LPT Calculator

The Long Pelion Trail Calculator takes into account seven parameters to estimate the time a hiker will need for each day section and for the entire route.

The parameters are:

• the length of the path
• the difficulty of the terrain
• the speed of the hiker on a level terrain
• the cumulative elevation difference of ascent
• the cumulative elevation difference of decent
• the pace of ascent of the hiker
• the pace of descent of the hiker

Each of the above parameters has a different weighting in the final time calculation algorithm. Walking, ascenting and descending speeds can be adjusted by the user, while the metrics and the difficulty of the route are given by the geometry and the terrain.
