The cave-church of Sfyrida is built in a shallow cave located inside a large rockshelter, above a nice plateau with a spring, at the narrowest point of a wooded ravine.

Hidden in the dense fir forest, the site exudes natural beauty and holiness.

The church, dedicated to the Dormition of the Virgin, is vaulted and has frescoes dated to the 12th century.

Inside the rockshelter thre is a small chamber. The place had been used as a hermitage and refuge for the locals. On the opposite side of the ravine there are other, quite inaccessible caves, where remains of stone walls can be seen.
