Trail Kalambaka-Agios Stefanos monastery

The ascent from Kalambaka to the monastery of Agios Stefanos is a satisfying journey: on the one hand, it is the only path that explores the eastern side of Meteora and on the other hand, thanks to the length and the altitude difference it covers, it offers the feeling of a somewhat demanding course.

The course starts from the center of Kalambaka and climbs smoothly along small alleys to the eastern foot of the tower of Agios Stefanos. Reach the chapel of Analipsi, where leave the road and take an old track, which climbs more decisively. Finally, after two maneuvers, the track heads towards the pass between the Meteora rocks and Mt Antichasia massif.

From the col follow the asphalt to the Agios Stefanos monastery. In this last section, you will pass by the entrance of the Agia Triada monastery: if the time of the day is appropriate, it cairtenly worth a visit.
