Chora Alonnisos-Megalos Mourtias

Apart from the direct path from Chora to Megalos Mourtias, the hiker has the option of a longer, but less steep route from the Cape Mavri Punta.

The route runs through a large pine wood, where the parfum of the pines pairs with the breeze of the ridge and the refreshing image of the Aegean Sea.

The hike starts from the Chora main square and through the paved alleys of the settlment reaches the lower entrance of Chora, on the main asphalt road. Follow the asphalt for a while and immediately turn right onto the very good cobblestone path towards Patitiri (signpost).

After a short but very pleasant downhill walk, we reach a secondary tarmac road (signspost). Follow this road to the right and after 530 m, leave it and enter a dirt road. Avoid the dirt road, taking a detour on the right, which passes near an olive grove, get back on the dirt road and eventualy reach its end, on an open slope with a nice view.

Cross a small olive grove with a faint path and reach a dirt road, above the Marpounta hotel complex. Follow the dirt road to the right, until its end, at the entrance of the estate. From here begins a downhill yet short path that ends at the center of Megalos Mourtias beach.
