Mt. Hymettus: Kareas monastery

Kareas monastery cyan loop

A brief loop trail around the narrow valley of Kareas monastery.

This route starts via the Mihailidis path (red marks), like many other trails starting from the monastery Kareas, up to the first dirt road below the singular rocks. Follow the dirt road for another 290 meters and leave it at the first hairpin. Here, behind some pines, starts a good path, waymarked with old but visible Cyan Dots, which runs along the craggy basin and reaches without difficulty to the opposite side of the ravine. The path continues on rocky though easier terrain and arrives under the old quarry; it soon reaches the rest area, located next to the monastery's parking place.
