Skyros: Palamari loop trail
Skyros
Palamari loop trail
A short tour to an extremely interesting corner of Skyros, combining remarkable elements of history and natural environment.
The first section runs on the rural dirt road leading to Palamari beach, among the fields of Trachy plain, with dozens of wildflowers, but also many bird species being present, especially during the migratory period.
The second part of the route is parallel to the shoreline, where the hiker has the opportunity to visit the prehistoric settlement of Palamari, see the remains of an ancient travertine quarry and at the same time will observe the alteration of the coastal vegetation from the sandy to the rocky part, as well as the precious wetland of Palamari.
