Pira-Pyra of Hercules
The path from Pyra up to the sanctuary of Heracles location, at Katavothra plateau, was recently opened by the locals. It is one of the nicest, easiest and well constructed trails of the area.
There are two springs and several small resting places along the 2 km length of the path. All streams are equipped with small elegant bridges. Therefore, in terms of security and slopes, the path fully covers the needs of a family or a company wishing to take a walk in the mountainous landscape. The ending at the archaeological site of the sanctuary of Heracles gives an extra motive for one to do this route. Moreover, the view from the location of the sanctuary is excellent.
Alternatively, a group of children might be picked up by the sanctuary location or tansferred there and perform the route in its downhill version.
The route is not yet marked, but the path is finely configured and there are odometer signs every 200 m.
