Hiking on Lefka Ori

Hiking on Lefka Ori

Lefka Ori is one of the most significant hiking heavens of Greece: dozens of trails, most of them clear and well-trodden from livestock or by frequent use, traverse the complex of the high peaks, while the majority of the gorges are feasible to walk.

The most well-known route is the crossing of Samaria gorge, an easy downstream trail, convenient for hikers and families alike. Experienced hikers will be called by the two branches of E4 Trail, both wild and beautifull. The mountain branch climbs from Xyloskalo to Kallergi hut, then reaches the Katsiveli meadow and next crosses the "mountain desert" down to Tavri plateau.

The southern branch follows the path from Sougia up to Sfakia and includes two daily sections, the difficult trail E4 Sougia-Agia Roumeli and the less complicated Agia Roumeli-Sfakia trail.
