Gerania Mt: Yellow Trail-part 2

Gerania Mt

Yellow Trail-part 2

The Yellow Trail is the shortest of the marked trails on Mt. Geraneia and crosses its ridge from south to north, more precisely from Loutraki to Pissia. The second part crosses the mountain ridge from Osios Patapios monastery to Pissia.

The trail starts from the stairs of the Osios Patapios monastery but soon leave it to get a very good path leading to a much less known monastery of Mt. Geraneia, the Agios Pavlos monastery, hidden in a small forest opening. The path climbs on gradually less forested slopes and after crossing the ridge, reaches the Pintiza sping, a welcome source of cool water in the middle of beautiful meadows (intersection with the Red Trail Red Square and a bit lower with the Green Trail Green Square).

The path heads to the Galanopoulos Cottage, where there is always an open room for the one seeking for refuge - and a tap getting water from the Pintiza spring. Continue on clear path and, pass by a trough and catch a horizontal traverse with nice view of the northern valleys and over the villages of Pisia and Perachora.

Go down through a series of large meadows and next take a long descent along the dense pine forest, until you reach the tavern Platanos, resting on a shoulder above Pisia. Follow the road to the village.

The signage Yellow Square and the maintenance of this trail is undertook by the Mountaineering Club of Loutraki.
