The katholikon of Agios Nikolaos monastery, close to Perivoli
NE Pindhos remained throughout history an inner area, without particular economic and demographic significance. Therefore, it is not surprising that the area is today poor of ecclesiastical – as well as ancient – monuments. The older preserved churches of the settlements date from the 17th-18th c., while the few chapels, that usually highlight a long abandoned rural district, are even newer.
The most noteworthy ecclesiastical monument of the area is the excellently restored katholikon of the deserted convent of Agios Nikolaos, close to Perivoli.
